WATER WELL PROJECT
At Bohean & Kulapuan Islands, Semporna, Sabah
- The existing wells are in poor condition and need improvement.
- The main well is too far and difficult for residents to access.
- The water capacity is insufficient to meet the needs of the island’s population.
- It is dangerous at night due to the distance between the main well and residential areas.
What Happens If This Problem Is Not Solved?
In Terms of Food: The lack of clean water makes it impossible to prepare food safely, increasing the risk of foodborne diseases such as poisoning and diarrhea. Families are forced to use contaminated water for cooking, which adversely affects their health, especially that of children.
In Terms of Personal Hygiene: The lack of clean water prevents residents from maintaining proper personal hygiene. This increases the risk of skin infections, skin diseases, and daily discomfort due to dirt and sweat that cannot be cleaned effectively.
In Terms of Worship and Spirituality: Clean water is essential for purification purposes in worship, such as performing ablution. The lack of clean water makes it difficult for residents to fulfill their religious practices, affecting their spiritual well-being and overall harmony.

We are currently raising funds to build a gravity-fed water tower system that will deliver clean water directly to residential areas. This system will ensure safe and easily accessible clean water for children and their families.

EZ Prihatin Foundation’s Initiative
EZ Prihatin Foundation has conducted visits to the islands around Semporna and nearby areas affected by water well issues.
During these initial visits, temporary aid, such as essential supplies, was provided. Discussions with village representatives led to the identification of potential solutions for the water issues and proposals for a more efficient water system.

The funds will be allocated for:
- 3 main water towers
- 2 water towers for prayer halls (surau)
- 3 new wells on each island
