Why is rice donation needed and where is it distributed?
According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) in the report of the Household Income and Expenditure Survey, in 2022, the poverty rate in urban areas increased from 3.9 percent (2019) to 4.5 percent (2022).
Although our country has been free from the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak for several years, there are still among our brethren who have not found stable job opportunities, nor even part-time work to regain their sources of income.
As a result, the rising cost of living, along with low wages, especially in urban areas, has affected many of our brethren out there.
They are facing difficulties in obtaining daily staple food supplies, particularly those with large families.
From this point, these groups are forced to ration their food, and even more heart-wrenching, some have run out of food supplies for an extended period.
On this occasion, the EZ Prihatin Foundation is initiating the campaign ‘A Bag of Rice for the Needy’ to alleviate the burden of living costs faced by those who are less fortunate.
